Order a copy

State Library offers a range of copying services for individuals and libraries. Copies of articles in journals, chapters from books in the collection, copies of content held in other libraries and high resolution digital files and print reproductions of some material are all available.

Some items cannot be copied if they are damaged or likely to be damaged to fulfil a copy request. The final decision regarding the suitability of items to be copied is made by the State Library of Queensland. 

For individuals

State Library provides a service for copying material in our collections which includes options for low resolution copies, suitable for general use including research and study, or high resolution copies.  

You can download images, including high-resolution images (where available) of many collection items free of charge. 

We also copy from the collections of other libraries.

State Library can provide research and reference quality copies of material from the Library’s collection including books, magazines and journal articles for your research and study accordance with the requirements in the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth.).  

All copy requests are supplied in PDF format via email.

Payment is required once the item has arrived at the library.  State Library staff will contact you to confirm the price and arrange payment.

State Library provides a service for you to order high resolution digital files or prints of items in the collection, according to requirements in the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth.)

Definitions

Audio Visual

  • CD-R (650 MB): An optical disc storage format or carrier used to save digital files - usually audio.
  • DVD-R: An optical disc storage format or carrier used to save digital files - usually video or large amount of audio.

Audio Formats

  • CDDA (for Audio-CD): Compact Disc Digital Audio is an audio compact disc playable on both CD players and computers with CD drives.
  • WAV: WAV provided by State Library is an uncompressed PCM audio format and used as a preservation format. Can be 16 bit or 24 bit, 48KHz or 96KHz; or 16 bit, 44.1 KHz for Audio-CD source).
  • MP3: MP3 is a lossy compressed audio coding format - State Library uses MP3 as a derivative access audio format.

Video Formats

  • DVD-Video: DVD-Video is a digital video disc playable on both DVD players and computers with DVD drives. DVD-Video has structured  directories and files for the H.262/MPEG2-Part 2 compression video and audio.
  • MP4: MP4 is a multimedia container format. State Library uses MP4 for containing derivative access video files.

Delivery

  • USB: Flash memory storage device with a USB interface.
  • Email (Digital Pigeon): Online service delivery of files requiring email address to access and download files. 

State Library provides a service for ordering copies of collections from other Australian or international libraries.

The Loans and Copies to Libraries Policy governs the interlibrary loan and document supply service for the borrowing and copying of items from State Library collections by Australian and international libraries. The policy provides guidelines on how libraries can access State Library’s diverse collections.
