This spring, we’re bringing 12 new children’s books to Queensland’s littlest readers through local libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres. With First 5 Forever: Stories for Little Queenslanders, you’ll be able to settle in with your little reader and share stories about mischief-making animals, quirky Queensland settings and charming young characters reflecting the diversity of families that call Queensland home. Written exclusively for State Library of Queensland and First 5 Forever by local authors and illustrators, they’ll give your family lots of fun summer reading moments to share. The books have been created for children 0-5 by twenty-one authors and illustrators including emerging and established talent such as much-loved children’s authors Pamela Rushby and Samantha Wheeler, cherished illustrators Sophie Beer and Simon Howe, and first-time children’s book authors and illustrators Emma Cracknell, Janet Turner and Eunice Day (a 2020 black&write! Fellowship winner). The books will be available in print, electronic and audio formats through Queensland libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres later this year.
