Oxford Music Online
Oxford Music Online is a wonderful tool for anyone interested in researching, teaching, or just learning more about music and offers comprehensive coverage of music, musicians, music-making, and music scholarship. The database is a gateway to Grove Music Online and includes content from the following resources.
- Oxford Companion to Music
- Oxford Dictionary of Music
- Encyclopedia of Popular Music
Included in the database are some very useful ‘Topical Guides to Grove Music’ which are guides to some major topics that contain selected Grove Music Online articles. The guides cover time periods, genres and other interesting topics like women composers A-Z.
JSTOR is a multidisciplinary archive of high resolution scanned scholarly journals. The database has great coverage of music history, music criticism, music analysis and music theory. It is not a current issues database. Because of JSTOR's archival mission, there is a gap, from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the back issues available.
