First Nations collections workshop (Years 7–10)

This workshop invites students to engage deeply with a selection of culturally significant First Nations collection items. Through an interactive ‘show and tell’ format, they will discover the technological innovations developed by early First Nations Australians and how these achievements supported daily life. Students will also investigate powerful collection materials that trace the movement for Rights and Freedoms, gaining insight into the ongoing fight for recognition and civil rights in Australia.

Important information for teachers:
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent should be aware that the workshop may include images and names of deceased individuals.
