Grandmothers Giving Circle

Why join?

The early years of a child’s life shape everything that follows, laying the foundation for learning, wellbeing and opportunity.

Yet not all families have access to the environments that support this critical development.

The Grandmothers Giving Circle brings together women committed to changing this. It unites grandmothers who understand the lifelong value of early learning and want to help create brighter futures for Queensland children through the transformative power of women in philanthropy.

Contributing to The Corner

At the heart of the Grandmothers Giving Circle’s mission is The Corner at State Library — a welcoming early learning space for children aged 0–8 and their families.

Guided by First 5 Forever’s ‘talk, read, sing, play’ principles, The Corner welcomes more than 80,000 visitors each year and provides free, inclusive experiences that foster creativity, connection and growth.

Grounded in neuroscience research, The Corner demonstrates the powerful role early learning and libraries can play in helping children thrive — especially where access to resources is limited.

While government funding supports core operations, philanthropic support helps expand The Corner’s impact, reaching more children and families across Queensland, including in regional and remote communities.
