Remembering the EKKA: Share your story

In 2026, Queensland celebrates a major milestone—150 years of the Royal Queensland Show, affectionately known as the Ekka.

From strawberry sundaes and showbags to woodchop competitions and fireworks, the Ekka has been a cherished part of Queensland life since 1876. To mark this special anniversary, State Library of Queensland and the ABC are teaming up to collect and share the stories, photos, and memorabilia that capture what the Ekka has meant to Queenslanders over the years.

Whether it’s a favourite childhood memory, a family tradition, a blue-ribbon win, or a special keepsake tucked away at home—we’d love to hear from you as we honour 150 years of laughter, livestock, lamingtons, and everything in between.

Got an EKKA memory? Share it with us!
