Register your interest for the 2025 Indigenous Languages Research Discovery Workshop at State Library

State Library's Indigenous Languages Research Discovery Workshop is a participatory event crafted for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community language workers, researchers, and educators who are actively participating in the preservation and revitalisation of Queensland's Indigenous languages.

Join passionate, like-minded people for an immersive research experience, including tailored skill-sharing and development opportunities. 

Explore State Library's collections on a behind-the-scenes tour, with guided research, and get inspired at the Indigenous Languages Symposium 2025.

The five-day workshop from 28 April - 2 May, offers a unique opportunity to:

  • Explore Queensland’s largest Indigenous language collections
  • Gain hands-on research skills for language preservation
  • Build networks with other language workers and researchers
  • Develop strategies for community-driven language revival

This exclusive opportunity is designed for a limited number of participants, ensuring dedicated support and is only available to people who identify as Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander.

Regional travel bursary applications are now closed.

Expressions of Interest for regional travel bursaries closed Monday 3 March 2025. The Travel Bursary Guidelines document is still available to review for those who have applied. Applications will be reviewed and we will be in touch to advise outcomes as soon as possible.

We will cover parking at State Library for local participants, but no other expenses.
