Key digital capability focus

State Library’s regional digital development project supports the growth of digital capability in regional and remote Queensland. Initiatives for each region are based on community needs and include free workshops that offer hands-on opportunities to explore new technologies and develop digital skills in friendly, community-based settings.

Digital capability focus for the North–North West Queensland region:

  1. Foundational digital skills for everyday life
Digital literacy for older Australians and others, covering telehealth, remote work, agritech, and everyday tech use, with support from young digital mentors as one approach.
  2. Digital skills for business and enterprise
Digital capability for businesses and organisations, including practical marketing tools, content creation and setting up online.
  3. Preserving and sharing family and local history
Skilling communities to digitise and protect family and local history, while building skills in digital archiving and storytelling through training and equipment loan initiatives like Preservation Station.

Ready to develop your digital skills? Find free workshops in your region, make and manage bookings, and receive completion certificates using State Library’s free Digital and You app. Learn at your own pace through the app or use the links to a range of free online skills courses.

The regional digital development project is a key funded initiative of the Queensland Government’s Our Thriving Digital Future: Queensland’s Digital Economy Strategy 2023-2026.
