'Who’s your real mum?' a great book to share

You can be sure you’re getting a great read when you choose one of the books shortlisted in this year’s CBCA Book of the Year.  Winners were announced recently, but the competition was very strong and the shortlist is a great way to find some quality books to celebrate Book Week with! 

Who’s your real mum? by Bernadette Green is a shortlisted title in the Early Childhood category in this year’s Book of the Year.  

The Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) is a not for profit, volunteer run organisation which aims to engage the community with literature for young Australians. The CBCA Book of the Year is an annual event promoting the best books of the year for young Australians.

The theme for Book Week this year is “Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds”. The week is a key event for local public libraries and schools, celebrating with storytelling sessions, book character dress-ups and reading challenges and events. More than a million new connections are forming in your child's brain every second during their first few years of life. It’s never too early to start reading to your children.

For parents, one of the greatest things you can do for your child is to instil in them a love of reading and books. Picture books use more big words than in normal speech.  You can help develop your child’s vocabulary by selecting some of the great books nominated in the CBCA Book of the Year.

Who’s your real Mum?

This endearing and funny book is a gentle look at the questions children ask their friends. When Nicolas visits Elvi, he wants to know which lady is her real Mum.
