We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

Have you noticed teddy bears as you walk around your local neighbourhood? Peeking out from behind a bush or in a window up high? Well people all around the world have been inspired by the picture book “We’re going on a Bear Hunt", by Michael Rosen and are putting teddy's and toys in windows and trees.

You and your little one can now join in the fun. If you have a copy of the book you might like to share the story and sing the words together. You can then go on a bear hunt in your local neighbourhood. As you go walking, try singing the song and doing the actions together. Each time you find a bear, your child might like to shout, “hurray we’ve caught one” and describe what the bear looks like or where it is located. You could even take a photo of the number of bears or teddys' and when you get home, count how many bears’ you caught.

You might like to create your own bear hunt at home. Try hiding teddy's around the house or in the garden and sing the song and do the actions with your little one as you search for the bears. If your child is a little older you might even create a map to help them find the bears, perhaps they could even make their own. At the end of your bear hunt you might like to have a teddy bears picnic. Of course, it will have to include honey sandwiches, because everyone knows bears love honey.
