Sharing funny stories with your child

It’s good to have a giggle. Sharing funny stories together is a great way of using humour to connect in with your child. It also has the added benefit of building your little ones love of reading.

Funny stories have a delightful way of drawing children in, even the reluctant readers. Be silly and make faces or use a silly voice when you read the story together. Try asking your child to help you by mirroring your actions or voices. At the end of the story talk about the book and your child what they found funny and why. You might even like to share a funny story about something that happened during your day.

Children’s humour is often different from adults, so discovering books that make them laugh will give you an insight into their sense of humour.
