Two library staff singing Barramundi song

Rhyme Time | Barramundi song

11 June 2021 | State Library of Queensland

Join the team from Tablelands Libraries and learn the "Barramundi song". Don't forget to add the actions for extra brain-boosting benefits for your little one!

You can learn more fun nursery rhymes at a Rhyme Time session at your local library.

Singing supports early literacy development

Singing with your 0-5 year old is a fun way to share special time with while you boost their vocabularies and help them to get to know the rhythms of language.

It's never too early to start and every little bit counts! Babies and children love music, and these are some easy ways to incorporate it into your day:

  • Sing at key transition times, such as naptime, bathtime and bedtime
  • Make up songs about things you do during the day
  • Sing along to music in the car and encourage them to sing along with you
