Rub-a-dub-dub it’s time fun in the tub! Bath time is perfect for talking, playing, singing and interacting with your child. It’s one-on-one time and often free from life’s other distractions.

How about adding some plastic animals, cups, plates and spoons to the bath? Have fun naming the animals, making animal sounds, feeding them and talking about what adventures they could go on.

Why not pretend the washer is a puppet and let it talk with your child, or make up some games, or even play peek a boo?

Bath time offers so many different words – water, tap, on, off, in, out, splash, hot, bubbles, towel, all gone (when the water disappears down the drain), plus you can name all of the parts of the body as you wash them. Don’t forget to talk about other less common body parts such as elbow, wrist or knee every time you wash them.

Simply using bath time as a chance for talking, playing, and singing can make a significant difference to a child’s development and wellbeing, as well as getting one little child clean!
