Winter Weekend of Fun

Bring the kids and join the fun at State Library this winter. We’ve got free activities the whole family can enjoy, from painting workshops and live concerts to family movie screenings and drop-in activities. 

Littlies can sing and dance along as Nadia Sunde performs her Songs for Little Queenslanders, check out the Story Stations to listen to stories written for little Queenslanders, and enjoy activities in The Corner and The Parlour. 

Families with older children can paint a self-portrait, check out a film screening or challenge other families in some good natured, interactive fun in the Queensland Quiz and Family Fun Days.

All ages Families! Come and share your voices and stories with us. Be inspired by the artwork in the Big Voices: children’s art matters exhibition and create your own self-portrait. Bring a printed selfie from home or use your imagination to paint a picture that tells a story all about you.  Why not make a day of it and book into the Big Voices: children’s art matters, family curator tour?   Bookings are essential to attend children and families activities. Songs for Little Queenslanders LIVE with Nadia Sunde

0-8 years Join one of Australia’s most celebrated children’s performers, Nadia Sunde for a special performance. Nadia will be singing homespun songs inspired by the Stories for Little Queenslanders picture book series. Published by State Library as part of First 5 Forever, these stories and Nadia’s songs celebrate the uniqueness of Queensland. Get ready to discover some new favourites, clap your hands and sing along in this special concert for the whole family. Nadia Sunde is a Queensland performer and songwriter known for delighting audiences of all ages. Nadia has recently been commissioned to compose a series of children’s songs as part of the Stories for Little Queenslanders picture book series. Session on 4 July will be AUSLAN interpreted. Family Film Festival: Oddball

Stories for Little Queenslanders: character story walk

All ages Meet 12 larger than life, three-dimensional characters from the Stories for Little Queenslanders picture book series, published by State Library as part of First 5 Forever.  Listen carefully to hear stories of mischief-making animals, quirky Queensland settings and charming young characters that reflect the diversity of families who call Queensland home.

Rhyme Time in The Corner

Story Time in The Corner

Join the fun of our First 5 Forever Story Time sessions for children aged 0-5.
