Teaching World War II using Queensland stories

Through this 30-minute workshop, discover the rich stories from State Library’s collections that create meaningful connections between students, Queensland and the events of World War II.

Participants will explore primary sources such as diaries, letters, photographs, military equipment, propaganda, newspaper articles and official records that highlight the experiences of Queensland soldiers, nurses, and families affected by the war. These resources will help students engage deeply with history, forging connections to this pivotal time.

Workshop takeaways:

  • Practical strategies and curriculum-aligned resources to create engaging history lessons centred on Queensland’s experience of World War II.
  • Create a free State Library membership to maximise your experience and gain full access to State Library’s resources.
  • This free, 30-minute workshop will be live-streamed via Microsoft Teams.
  • A Microsoft Teams link will be sent to you upon completion of your booking.
