Hear moving stories of the service and sacrifice of Queensland's Vietnam veterans
Australia’s decade-long involvement in the Vietnam War remains a significant cultural touchstone for those who lived through it. For some, the anti-war sentiment was the shaping of a generation; for others, it was a tragic final note on a stressful and traumatic service experience.
Join us at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries as we discuss the processes and approach to interviewing veterans. Through their first-hand experiences, we are able to gain unique perspectives and anecdotes that shape our perception of this turbulent time for researchers now and in future generations.
This talk will include a viewing of short interviews with Queensland Vietnam veterans.
After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries - embarking on an interactive journey from World War One to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands.
