Meet renowned nationally renowned artist Bonita Ely live in-conversation with Angela Goddard, Director of Griffith University Art Museum.

About Bonita Ely

Bonita Ely was born in 1946 in Mildura, Victoria, and grew up on the banks of the Murray River in the Mallee district, a place that has remained a major theme in her work across decades of artistic practice. Best known for her performance work, Bonita’s practice encompasses a wide range of media and is highly experimental, challenging traditional approaches to art.

Feminism and environmental issues have been at the forefront of Bonita’s career. Her most recent work continues to shine a light on Australia’s relationships with its waterways, highlighting the fish kills in the Menindee Lakes and the Great Artesian Basin, the world’s largest aquifer.

Bonita Ely will be in-conversation with Angela Goddard, Director of Griffith University Art Museum, who has interviewed multiple artists included in State Library’s current exhibition Meet the artists.
