Explore the history and personal stories behind selected memorials at Anzac Square which were created by, or in tribute to, Queensland women, from World War I to today.
Included will be the history of the Women’s Memorial, contributed on behalf of all Queensland women and created by Daphne Mayo; stories of nurses and civilian women from World War I; tributes to Queensland servicewomen and women’s organisations from World War II; and some accounts of contemporary women’s service experiences, drawn from the permanent digital exhibition on display at the Anzac Square Memorial Galleries.
After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries - embarking on an interactive journey from World War I to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands.
