Enjoy hands-on fun and learn something new at State Library’s Fun Palace, a free, family-friendly event where you can make art with a twist and join free games, science experiments and activities.

Build a blockbot racer, make jewellery using recycled materials, join a reading and writing party or create an augmented reality poster.

Everyone is an artist and everyone is a scientist at Fun Palace!

Activities include:

  • Build a blockbot racer: Build the ultimate Blockbot racer! Get to drive it around the race track and forever immortalise its story.
  • Brew kombucha fabric: Brew a cuppa and start to grow some vegan leather in the comfort of your own kitchen.
  • Minecraft world building: Calling all Minecraft builders - help us turn State Library into the space you want it to be using your imagination and crafty skills.
  • Jewellery making: Discover the joys of recycling and making jewellery yourself in this hands-on workshop. You will leave with a piece of jewellery to keep or give to someone special.
  • 3D printing beads: Come and get a crash course in designing for 3D Printers. You can create your own bead or talisman to take home.
  • Augmented reality poster design: Learn how to create a hidden, digital world with technology you already own through virtual and augmented reality.
