Bookbinding: laser cut covers, hand sewn spines

What tales will you tell?

During this workshop series learn about the traditional craft of book binding and bring it to life with contemporary skills of digital fabrication. At the end of the workshop you will take home your own personally designed and bound book.

There are no special skills required, just bring your creativity, ideas, and enthusiasm to bring your book to life! You will learn how to:

  • Design a cover in Inkscape (vector graphics software)
  • Cut and etch that design on our laser cutter
  • Sew up a text block from loose leaves of paper using traditional materials and methods
  • Bind the book with your laser cut cover to create your own journal

As this is a 3-part workshop, you must be able to come to all the dates as each session will build on the previous.

Please read The Edge Booking Terms and Conditions. You’ll find answers to age restrictions, what to bring, what to do if you’re running late, refunds and more.
