The BlockBot meetup is an opportunity to come and play with Lego-compatible robotics kits. The kits are designed as an affordable platform for anyone, young or old, to get involved in simple robot design and construction.

The BlockBot runs for nearly 30 minutes in a charge and the kit consists of:

  • a 11.1volt, 450mAh LiPo battery, (weight approx 40g)
  • a pre-programmed Arduino brain with power controllers and preloaded open source code base in a lego-compatible chassis (weight approx 20g)
  • four motors that can be used for different things propulsion, steering, grabbing   
  • a Playstation 3 style bluetooth robot remote

The Block Bot kit can be used for competitive racing, robo-battles and engineering challenges.   

We'll have 10 kits and lego available, so come along and get involved.  


  • Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult
