Why ‘born global’ startups are a double-edged sword for Australia

"TechnologyOne founder Adrian Di Marco is blunt about Australia’s prospects of keeping its best high-growth technology companies.

“If we were starting today, I have to be honest, we would not be an Australian company, why would we be?” Di Marco says. “It’s not attractive to be an Australian start-up, I don’t think the financial rewards are there, I don’t think the incentives are there, I don’t think the support is there, so I don’t think there is going to be much loyalty with start-ups long term in staying in Australia.”
