Expressions of interest are now open for Queensland public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres to be a pilot site for the regional delivery of introductory coding training via Padbot the telepresence robot, between Saturday 26 August and Saturday 14 September 2017.

Between 1 and 3 library staff are required to commit to an 8-week Learn to Code training course held on Saturdays by IT etc Training as part of Digital Futures, SLQ’s theme for this year. The successful applicant/s will join the course remotely from their own device and manage their participation in the training which is being held onsite at State Library via Padbot. Participants can control Padbot to move and look around the training room as well as communicate through the real-time HD video chat.

Training is designed for anyone with a desire to learn how to code. Participants will complete challenges focused on specific skillsets, then present their final working prototypes to peers, teachers and IT industry personnel.

For full details and to apply, you can download the Padbot EOI here. Submissions are due by COB Monday 17 July 2017.
