How Swanwick Sleep has already made a killing selling on Amazon

E-commerce start-up Swanwick Sleep went from zero to $US1.5 million ($2 million) in less than two years.

The Brisbane-based company sells amber-coloured lenses that filter artificial blue light from digital devices and modern energy efficient lighting.

Company co-founder Tristan Swanwick attributes its success to a number of factors, including selling on US e-commerce giant, Amazon.

"I certainly was not expecting the business to become so successful so quickly," says Swanwick.

"I think this is down to a number of factors. The public is becoming a lot more aware of the effects of blue light from digital devices. I think we've also reached a tipping point in people's awareness of just how crucial good quality sleep is to health and wellbeing.

"The other factor is undoubtedly the benefits of Amazon. It really lowers the barrier of entry to small businesses looking to enter the e-commerce space by doing the heavy lifting in warehousing and logistics while allowing you to scale rapidly." Read more
