Gandel-backed MyDeal launches online fashion marketplace MyWardrobe

Gandel family-backed online marketplace MyDeal launched a curated online fashion marketplace on Tuesday.

Founded by Sean Senvirtne in 2012 MyDeal is diversifying from its origins as a daily deals platform into fashion with the launch of MyWardrobe.

The fashion marketplace is launching with 60 boutique brands including Ete Swimwear, Mossman and Twenty3 with a particular focus on brands with a cult following through social media.

Capitalising on the Gandel contact book

The spinoff comes six months after MyDeal raised $5 million from Tony Gandel, the son of billionaire property developer and rich lister John Gandel.

Senvirtne told MySmallBusiness that Gandel's extensive contact book and retail sector experience has helped drive MyWardrobe's diversification strategy.

"We've been an online marketplace for the last six years and identified a gap for small boutique fashion labels that are popping out to get the sight eyeballs and reach to the masses," he says. "We saw an opportunity to handle these boutique retailers for our existing consumers."

Senvirtne says the Gandel name and experience is helping generate interest in the launch. Read more
