Business News Australia joins the Vinnies CEO Sleepout

For more than a decade Vinnies has run the annual CEO Sleepout, a national campaign to fight the issue of homelessness.

Each year on the longest night of winter, many of the nation's top executives sleep out on the concrete to raise much needed funds for Aussies who desperately need it.

For participants, it is one night of discomfort. However, for more than 116,000 people throughout the country, homelessness is a constant reality.

This year, Business News Australia's Managing Editor Camilla Jansen will sleep the streets as part of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout, leading a team of winners and finalists from the Young Entrepreneur Awards who are all committed to the cause.

In addition to sleeping rough for the night, the Young Entrepreneur team will raise funds for Vinnies to help provide disadvantaged Aussies a safe and secure place to call home.

St Vincent de Paul Society Queensland CEO Peter Maher said the issue of homelessness is far more widespread than most people think.

"The issue is very real for many people one in eight Queenslanders live below the poverty line and most Australians are just two pay days away from being without a secure place to live," Mr Maher said. Read more
