Beyond pureed pumpkin: There's a baby food revolution

Emily Dupuche has a problem with the baby food for sale on supermarket shelves.

"I think it's unacceptable you can buy fresh pet food in Australia, but you can't buy fresh baby food," she says.

Dupuche has shaken up Australia's $176.8 million baby food market with the launch of her Food Babies Love fresh pots in Woolworths stores in October last year, but it hasn't been an easy journey.

"We are creating a whole new category in Australian retail," she says. "It has been the hardest challenge of my life, it makes parenting seem a doddle but there was something inside me that made me see it through."

From cult cook book to entrepreneur

Dupuche is a "passionate home cook" and started creating recipes for baby food as she introduced her twins to solid food.

The former marketing specialist self published a collection of her recipes as Food Babies Love. The book was picked up by Pan MacMillan and went on to become the best selling baby food cook book in Australia. Read more
