Ms Katie Kiss
We are delighted to welcome Ms Kiss and look forward to her starting and supporting the delivery of the Board’s priorities and objectives.
Ms Buchanan and Dr Atkinson AO, Co-Chairs
Katie Kiss is a proud Kaanju and Birri/Widi woman who grew up in Rockhampton, Central Queensland on the lands of the Darumbal People.
Katie brings to this role extensive experience in public policy and human rights. Her career spans extensive service promoting and protecting the rights of Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples and has worked with organisations such as the United Nations, the Australian Human Rights Commission, PricewaterhouseCoopers Indigenous Consulting and National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples.
I am excited and honoured to be given this opportunity. I have spent the last four years working within government to support this important work, and I am looking forward to working with the IIB and our communities to deliver this next phase. Treaty and Truth Telling are critical to healing our state, something First Nations peoples have been saying forever. Our Elders have paved the way for us for many years, but I think the rest of the state are now ready to join us.
Ms Katie Kiss
Katie previously held the position of Chief of Staff in the Office of the Minister for Seniors and Disability Services and Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships.
