Listen to Brisbane music stalwart Tim Steward, in conversation with Noel Mengel, as they discuss his trajectory through frontman of The Madmen, into his decades-spanning turn in Screamfeeder, the establishment of his local Stone Groove record label, more miles of touring than could be considered reasonable, and the lessons learned from a life dedicated to the pursuit of music.
Now operating as both solo artist and as singer for We All Want To, we’ll look both to the future and the past of Brisbane’s gentleman troubadour.

President Queensland Jazz Archive and Lecturer in Jazz History at the Queensland Conservatorium, Neville Meyers facilitated a conversation with Lynette Irwin, Artistic Director of the inaugural Brisbane International Jazz Festival, musician and jazz time-traveller Tony Ashby, and swing era devotee Barry Ralph.
This talk was part of the Live! Second Saturday festivities in August, celebrating All That Jazz.

A night in the JOL: Bittersweet Queensland
2013 marks 150 years since the arrival of South Sea Islanders in Queensland.
Today, more than 20,000 descendants identify as Australian South Sea Islanders and continue to enrich Queensland’s cultural diversity with their unique identity, spirituality and history.
Dr Kate Evans, together with Imelda Miller, Assistant Curator of Torres Strait Islander and Pacific Indigenous Studies at Queensland Museum, and John Waldron, Curator of The Australian South Sea Islanders exhibition and Project Coordinator of ASSI 150 SEQ, share their personal and professional experiences of telling sensitive, confronting, and powerful stories of Australian South Sea Islanders.

Live! with Katie Noonan
Join Brisbane’s music darling, Katie Noonan, in conversation with Noel Mengel, exploring her musical influences and offerings.Katie’s technical mastery and pure voice has made her one of Australia’s most significant and beloved vocalists.
A mother, singer, producer, songwriter, pianist and business woman, Katie is four times ARIA Award winning and six times platinum selling songstress who first came to prominence as the pure-voiced songstress of indie pop band George.
George’s diverse musical influences (opera, jazz and underground rock) heralded a new maturity in Brisbane’s sound. The bands first album, Polyserena, debuted at number 1 in the national charts, achieving double platinum status and spending 36 weeks in the Top 50 charts. George’s final show was performed on the steps of the Sydney Opera House in 2005.
Katie has gone on to success with her folk trio Elixir and continues to extend herself creatively by composing for physical theatre through Circa, and working with classical guitarist Karin Schaupp.
