Part of SLQ's Queensland Memory, the John Oxley Library has a wide range of content both contemporary and retrospective, chronicling events, people, places, and ideas that continue to shape Queensland.
These collections contain materials relating to the world history of art from pre-history to the present day. Collection strengths include 19th and 20th century Western art, Australian art, artists' books, book arts and the Asia Pacific Design Library.
This comprises four collections of material relating to the fine arts in Australia and the many arts and crafts of the book.
The information collections complement the SLQ heritage collections, with e-books and other eresources, books, magazines, audiovisual, and music which focus on Australian and international content.
SLQ's experts offer concise, free advice to organisations and the public on preservation and conservation issues for all kinds of books, ephemera, art works, documents, sheet music, films, audiovisual materials and photographs.
SLQ acquires its collections through donations, private sales, legal deposit, auctions, and bequests. We are always happy to hear from individuals, business and organisations about possible donations to our collections.
