COVID-19 update: State Library is gradually reopening. Before you visit, please read what spaces are open.
Most of the time we don’t stop to listen to the textures of the sounds around us, it can be difficult to slow down and let the colour of sound wash over us. It can be just as chill to explore found sounds and their expressiveness artistically.
In this online workshop series, participants will come together to customise and build their own unique percussive musical instrument, and then experiment with it sonically in a collaborative online space. Participants will make a basic recording of a soundscape performance or an abstract sound design for a short film.
These workshops are for anyone who enjoys hand-making unusual stuff, people who might be interested in training the sensitivity of their ear and anybody who has been missing coming together with other people and being creative. No specific making or musical experience required.
The workshop will run via Zoom over two x Tuesday evenings;
Tuesday 11 August 6-8pm – Online Zoom session with a break in the middle
Tuesday 25 August 6-8pm – Online Zoom session with a break in the middle
Please ensure you read through any information sent to you prior to the workshop so you are prepared with software downloads and everything required so everyone can start at the same pace.
These online workshops are for 18+ only.
