COVID-19 update: State Library is gradually reopening. Before you visit, please read what spaces are open.
State Library is located in the heart of the extended Queensland Cultural Centre at South Bank. It sets a benchmark for state libraries within Australia and the southern hemisphere. This guided tour will take attendees on a comprehensive journey throughout most levels of this beautiful building.
The redeveloped building, with its trademark ‘blades’, river decks and Red Box leaning over the Brisbane River, has won Royal Australian Institute of Architects Awards, both state and national, for interior architecture and public architecture.
As one of the last free public spaces, State Library’s focus on access for all has created a hive of activity, day and night, as people come to engage, learn, research, study or to just enjoy the space.
Presented as a part of Brisbane Open House.
