Self-guided groups at State Library

Thank you for arranging a self-guided visit to State Library. This form will take approximately 5 minutes to complete, and can be used by:

- preschools and kindergartens
- schools
- tertiary institutions
- family day care
- vacation care and OSHC
- families
- adult groups with special interests

If your group is not listed, or you are an individual, contact us on learning@slq.qld.gov.au to discuss options. If you wish to arrange a guided tour of the Library, do not use this form; instead, click here to book (14 days' notice required).

Membership

If members of your group wish to borrow materials it is best to become members online in advance of the visit and then upgrade memberships once onsite. If possible, please contact us ahead of time so we may arrange assistance with membership. If you are a school group, note especially the conditions for students 15 years and under.

You may also wish to explore What's On, including current free exhibitions.

Visits to The Corner have special considerations. If you are visiting this space as part of the following, please contact ypf@slq.qld.gov.au well in advance of your visit.

  • tertiary group with an early learning focus
  • kindy group
  • vacation care group
  • primary school group

The Corner is an open playspace for children from birth to eight years old and their carers. For early years' group visits an ideal maximum is 25, including at least two supervising adults. For larger groups we suggest you rotate through areas such as kuril dhagun and the exhibition galleries on Level 2 and Level 4, as well as The Corner.

Staff are present between the hours of 10am to 3pm daily to support engagement. As The Corner is open to the public, it is not possible to specifically tailor activities to visiting groups. Please visit the State Library website to see What's On.

We will advise staff of the day and time of your visit, including information about the age range and size of your group. If you have updates to your plans or questions please contact the Young People and Families team directly on 3840 7927 or ypf@slq.qld.gov.au.

If you would like to keep up to date with events related to Children’s and Families a great way to do so is by following our Facebook page SLQPlay. If you would like to sign up to any of the State Library enews mail outs including family enews you can do so via In Touch.
