Tristan Bancks takes up State Library's Summer Reading Club Challenge--with time for families to still get on board!

By Young People and Families | 21 January 2021

Have you heard about State Library's Summer Reading Challenge?

The Summer Reading Club is a fun, free program delivered annually by the State Library of Queensland online and in public libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres across Queensland to encourage children to keep reading through the summer!

This year, the Summer Reading Club launched an exciting new website, purpose built for children and families to use in a fun and safe way. Responding to this year’s theme of Myths, Legends and Fairy tales, the new website encourages the discovery of Tales of Wonder by inviting them to complete 40 reading challenges; we are certain kids will be attracted to the candid and clever illustrations and animated characters, and the ability to choose their own avatar upon registration.

Over 750 children have joined the Summer Reading Club online, taking up the challenge to read. More than 1400 challenges have already been logged online!

As children complete the challenges online, they collect badges and earn XP (experience points). The more challenges they complete the higher their XP will soar, and new avatars to unlock. And as each challenge can be completed multiple times there is no end to their online reading adventures!

With the Summer Reading Club challenge running through to 31 January there is still plenty of time to:
