‘Tis the season to celebrate with SLQ and The Pyjama Foundation

By Administrator | 9 December 2015

State Library of Queensland has decked the halls, and we wish all our visitors a very merry Christmas. Our gorgeous Christmas tree in reception was designed by our staff at The Edge .

To celebrate the season of giving, SLQ has partnered with The Pyjama Foundation to collect books, games and activities for children in foster care. The Pyjama Foundation, founded in 2004, gives foster children opportunities to develop a love of books and reading, and to change the direction of their lives through learning, life skills and confidence. The Love of Learning program connects volunteers, called “Pyjama Angels”, with children in care. The angels spend time with their child every week, reading with them, helping with homework or playing games.

This Christmas SLQ is supporting The Pyjama Foundation with a book drive. We are looking for donations of new books or board games for children up to the age of 18. The foundation is grateful for picture books, chapter books, activity books, colouring books, sticker books, board games and gift vouchers. Why not purchase a gift from The Library Shop? Donations can be left in the basket with our reception staff until 24 December.

Thank you for supporting this wonderful cause and for celebrating the season of giving with SLQ and The Pyjama Foundation.
