This real estate map from 1885 advertises over 250 allotments of land for sale at the Sefton Estate, located in the Brisbane suburb of Clayfield. The allotments were situated along London Road, Liverpool Road, Dublin Street, Boston Street, Sandgate Road, Berlin Road (now Sefton Road) and two unnamed roads (now called Wagner Road and Alexandra Road).

Prior to the sale extensive publicity was published in Brisbane newspapers.

"This Estate is well known as Franz's Paddock and is situated between Mr W. Widdop's house and the Wagner Estate, and has frontages to the new Sandgate Road and the Government Road on south side of the Wagner Estate... The views are really beautiful. From the more elevated parts clear and distinct views of the Bay and Island are obtained, while every lot looks over everything in front, and gives glimpses of all those pretty hills and hollows which stretch away for miles far and wide." (Brisbane Courier, September 23, 1885)

A public auction was held at the site on the afternoon of October 3, 1885. The Brisbane Courier newspaper reported the results of the sale –

"Mr John Cameron reports a very good sale at the Sefton Estate on Saturday last. The company was not numerous, but evidently meant to buy, as almost everyone purchased. The total sale was sixty-six lots for £1588, the highest price per lot being £54, and the lowest £15. The balance are for private sale." (Brisbane Courier, October 6, 1885)
