Margaret Thorsborne AO generously donated First World War mementos and precious letters which encapsulate the courage and compassion of her mother, Sister Constance Mabel Keys. These items have been arranged in State Library’s Talbot Family Treasures Wall in the thoughtful display “Love to all, Connie”. Sadly, Ms Thorsborne passed away late last week.

Ms Thorsborne is also remembered as champion and protector of Queensland's environment, in particular Hinchinbrook Island and South East Queensland. As an early supporter of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, Margaret and her late husband Arthur worked tirelessly to conserve wilderness, wildlife and their habitats. Established in 1991, the Thorsborne Trust, which funds environmental projects and educational activities, is a ongoing legacy of their commitment and dedication to Queensland's beautiful and unique environment. Ms Thorsborne was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia in 2011.
