In 2015, 70 young Queenslanders were awarded the Premier's Anzac Prize, which comprised a trip to Europe in April-May, to attend the Anzac Day centenary event in Gallipoli and tour the Western Front.

For the 70 students the trip was a life-changing experience, and to highlight their remarkable commemorative journey,  State Library has produced a digital story featuring Emily Ireland, one of the 2015 prizewinners. Through Emily's experience and the WWI family story which underpinned her application, the digital story explores the application process, awarding of the prize, and the subsequent journey to Gallipoli and the Western Front. Emily shares her impressions and learnings.

In addition to the trip, several of Prize recipients showcased their journeys in the Voices from Afar installation, a mini-exhibition mounted as part of State Library's Distant Lines First World War Exhibition in 2015.
