By Administrator | 8 March 2018

A pet matchmaking service is attracting the attention of big name investors including Qantas with a raise of $5 million in funding.

Mad Paws matches pet owners and sitters and has also signed a commercial deal with the airline enabling Mad Paws users to accrue Qantas frequent flyer points for bookings including overnight pet hosting away from home, pet sitting at the pet’s home, dog walking, pet day care and house visits.

Other investors in the series A funding round include Microequities Venture Capital, Scale Up Media Fund, existing investor Madoch Ventures, and Tim Fung, chief executive and co-founder of Airtasker who will be joining the Mad Paws board.

Chief executive and co-founder, 27-year-old Alexis Soulopoulos  had the idea for Mad Paws when he was at the University of Sydney and in 2014 he created a platform that allowed students to share pets with students who needed pet sitters.

Mad Paws has evolved into a peer-to-peer online marketplace listing 15,000 sitters and dog walkers and 300,000 pets offering an alternative to traditional kennels and catteries. Read more
