Oxford Art Online

Are you looking for art images or information about art history? Or do you just love art?

Whether you’re a school student or an advanced scholar, Oxford Art Online is a great tool for researching art from prehistory to today, or for simply browsing inspiring images and fascinating articles. This outstanding resource provides a simple easy gateway to search simultaneously across several superb reference works, including:

  • Grove Art Online
  • Benezit Dictionary of Artists
  • Encyclopedia of Aesthetics
  • The Oxford Companion to Western Art
  • The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms

Oxford Art Online gives you access to thousands of searchable images and articles, as well as useful learning resources, such as subject guides, timelines and bibliographies to help you with further study.

This online collection enables you to access images from such iconic institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as thousands of links to other museums and galleries.

Within Oxford Art Online, the Grove Art Online database contains 21,000 biographies of artists, architects, patrons, collectors, dealers, theorists, writers and scholars – all searchable by name, birth or death dates, place of origin or activity and occupation.

Oxford Art Online also makes it easy to browse, with beautiful images and feature articles on the home page, as well as links to new material and subject guides.
