New Acquisition: Terry Hampson Political Badges and Memorabilia

By JOL Admin | 17 February 2012

The John Oxley Library recently received a fantastic collection of political badges and memorabilia from Terry Hampson, former Brisbane City Councillor and Australian Labor Party State Secretary.  The political memorabilia is primarily for the Australian Labor Party and includes badges, pennants and election ephemera dating from Gough Whitlam's 1972 "It's Time" campaign.  One interesting item is a record containing the 1980 ALP campaign song "Raise the Standard".  The collection also contains some Brisbane City Council election ephemera, including material relating to Clem Jones and Jim Soorley.  Older items in the collection include a World War II Allies Day badge and a Lord Mayor's Patriotic Day badge from 1940.
