MS Readathon gets children reading!

Each year, during the month of August, the MS Readathon inspires children to read as much as they can for one incredible cause–to help raise money for children who have a parent with multiple sclerosis. Working with libraries, parents can support their child's involvement in the MS Readathon to help them find the right books to read in this quest of a million epic adventures!

For over 40 years the MS Readathon has been igniting a passion for reading in children while helping people with Multiple Sclerosis.

The purpose of this beloved campaign is for children to read whatever they like, as much as they can, for one whole month. As they do, they are encouraged to also fundraise money for MS Australia, helping them to develop a sense of social awareness and empathy for children who have a parent with multiple sclerosis.

Funds raised from the MS Readathon help fund vital support services, like the special MS Family Camps and Family Fun Days. These events provide an opportunity for children who have a parent living with multiple sclerosis to spend quality time with their family, learn more about multiple sclerosis and bond with other kids who are sharing their journey.

Here are just a few tips to support your child's fundraising goals taken from the MS Readathon website:

1. Talk to family

2. Promote on social media

3. Offer to do a few extra chores around the house and

4. Build a "Count the candy jar."

Children can earn online badges as they reach their fundraising goals and reading incentives and prizes are up for grabs to spur them forward in their efforts to help others.

Whether your child is discovering their inner hero, embarking on a great quest, or taking a journey beyond the stars in August, the MS Readathon provides opportunities to support your children as they commit to help others through their reading.
