By JOL Admin | 30 June 2016

For one week during the June / July school holidays in 2016, Year 11 students Eliza Woods and Caitlin Trout joined staff of the State Library of Queensland to learn more about the professional activities undertaken at State Library due to the generous donation by long time donor to Queensland Library Foundation, Dr Cathryn Mittelheuser AM.

Eliza and Caitlin, both students of Brisbane Girls Grammar at the time, were encouraged by their Year 11 History teacher, Ms Alison Dare to apply for the inaugural Mittleheuser student internship program. Each student submitted an application, explaining why they would like to participate in the program. Eliza and Caitlin's successful applications were announced at the Queensland Memory Awards function, June 9, 2016.

Both history buffs, the girls were also given the opportunity to choose an aspect of Queensland history, research the collections of the John Oxley Library for content and write a blog article to contribute to the John Oxley Library blog portal.
