Mayfield Railway Station Estate, [Carina], 1926 (Map of the Week)

This real estate map from 1926 advertises land for sale at the Mayfield Railway Station Estate, which today is part of the Brisbane suburb of Carina. The allotments were situated along Old Cleveland Road, Mayfield Road, Flavelle Street, Sankey Street, Roberts Street (now Nyrang Street) and Willett Street (now Pembroke Street).

Prior to the sale extensive publicity was published in Brisbane newspapers.

A public auction was held at the site on the afternoon of 17 April, 1926. The results of the sale were published in the Brisbane Courier newspaper.

"Messrs. Cameron Bros. report the sale by auction on Saturday of 26 allotments of the Mayfield Railway Station Estate, Coorparoo, for £796, the prices ranging from £30 to £37. (Brisbane Courier, 20 April 1926, p.9).

Mayfield Railway Station was part of the Belmont Tramway, a short-lived railway which operated on and off between 1912 and 1926.
