LinkedIn Learning for Library is here

By Anonymous | 5 October 2021

State Library of Queensland is excited to announce the much-anticipated arrival of LinkedIn Learning for Library.

State Library of Queensland members will have free access to LinkedIn Learning for Library, an award-winning industry leader in online training, with a digital library of courses covering a wide range of technical, business, software and creative topics.

LinkedIn Learning, formerly known as Lynda.com provides an enhanced user experience with a refreshed user interface that is now easier than ever to use.

Why use LinkedIn Learning?
LinkedIn Learning provides comprehensive courses delivered by experts who are also great at presenting and teaching. You can learn at your own pace and select courses relevant to your current role in areas such as business, technology and marketing. You can also pursue other passions! With courses on financial literacy, social media, even drawing, music theory and photography, you’ll be able to grow and develop in the areas you care about both at and outside of work.

You may watch an entire course, or individual videos – some are as short as four or five minutes. You will be able to bookmark courses that suit your interests, keep track of the courses you have taken, and when you complete a course, you’ll receive a certificate of completion. You have the opportunity to refine or develop your professional skills, learn new skills, and explore other areas as of interest. The possibilities are endless.

More than just a name change

The change from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning is more than just a change of name. You now have access to LinkedIn Learning’s entire library of over 16,000 courses, including courses in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Mandarin and Portuguese. This is a significant upgrade from Lynda.com, which offered 7,000 courses in English.

LinkedIn Learning also has an updated, easier-to-use interface.

No need for a LinkedIn profile

You do not need to create a LinkedIn profile to access LinkedIn Learning. Access conditions remain unchanged. Existing State Library members can simply log in with your State Library username and password. New members can join State Library online, then log into LinkedIn Learning through State Library of Queensland's website.

Track your learning journey

As you start your learning journey on LinkedIn Learning you’ll be able to record and track your progress through the My Learning area. Here you can update the skills you are interested in developing, view your saved videos and courses, and maintain your learning history.

If you were a user of Lynda.com, unfortunately your profile including your learning history will not migrate over to LinkedIn Learning.
