It's never too early to join the library!
It’s never too early to share stories with your baby, and did you know it’s never too early for them to join a library? Even the tiniest of babies can become a member at your local library and have their very own library card. Libraries love celebrating the arrival of new babies!
Libraries are a great place to visit and borrow books and you can also join fun, free activities like First 5 Forever Story Time, Rhyme Time and Baby Play sessions. With more than 320 libraries and Indigenous Knowledge Centres throughout the state there is sure to be one near you.
With participant numbers reduced due to COVID-19, some libraries are also offering online sessions for families. Get in touch with your local library and find out what sessions they are offering in person and online.
These sessions not only boost your child’s early literacy through stories and rhymes but they are also fun and give parents and carers an opportunity to connect in with each other and establish those all-important support networks. And best of all it’s free!
When we spend time talking, reading, singing and playing with our little one we’re laying the foundations for early language and learning and there is no better place to do this than at your local library.
