Get digital for Digital Inclusion Week!

As much as we love books and manuscripts, State Library of Queensland is Digital by Design. We are committed to helping all Queenslanders feel at home in the digital environment, which is why we fund programs like Tech Savvy Seniors and Deadly Digital Communities to help bridge the digital divide in Queensland.

State Library also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Goal 10: Reduced inequalities means we are committed to overcoming social, geographic and economic barriers to digital inclusion. According to the Australian Digital Inclusion Index older people and, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders living in remote communities are most at risk of being left behind when government services move online and access to technology, as well as the ability to use it, becomes more and more important.

It’s International Digital Inclusion Week and we’ve got three great tips on how to improve your digital literacy and go digital with State Library of Queensland:

  1. Not sure about eresources? Use your State Library membership to log into our eresources. Try Kanopy to watch free films or PressReader to get online newspapers and popular magazines.
  2. Wondering what ebooks are all about? Watch our video on how to download an ebook. Then explore on our OneSearch catalogue. All you need is your State Library username and password. Not a member? Join online.
  3. Want to up your social media game? Check out State Library on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and keep up with all our news, events and programs!
