Celebrating Indigenous Business Month with State Library’s Business Studio

By Administrator | 15 October 2019

Is your business the next Faebella? Are you one of 12 500 Aboriginal-owned businesses in Australia? If the answer to either of these questions is “yes” then State Library’s Business Studio can help you! The Business Studio is located on Level 1 of State Library and open Monday to Friday.

For Indigenous Business Month this month we’re sharing three ways our Business Studio is helping Indigenous entrepreneurs.

  1. Co-working spaces: Do you prefer to work with your mob rather than on your own? Become a library member and book one of our Business Studio co-working spaces. They’re free with your library membership. You can use the space to work on your business, meet with your team or network with other entrepreneurs.
  2. Trusted content: Don’t fall for fake news! If you seek the authority of journalists like Stan Grant and Isabella Higgins (ABC Indigenous Affairs reporter) get trusted content from our eresources such as IBISWorld, PressReader and ProQuest Business Entrepreneur. You can find out the key factors that determine the success of Indigenous businesses in Australia. You’ll also have access to online magazines, company profiles and industry reports. Access is from home with your library membership or in the Business Studio. Just ask our friendly staff for help!
  3. Books! The Business Studio has books on every aspect of business, from building a team to maximising your profit. Are you envious of Jess Mauboy’s 351k Instagram followers (not to mention her talent)? We’ve got books that will help you build your own brand on social media and get your business seen by Australia and the rest of the world.

So come and visit us in the Business Studio or sign up for library membership online. We can help you navigate the world of finance and bring your business ideas to life. Happy Indigenous Business Month!
