Freestyle books - a virtual exhibition of the State Library of Queensland Exhibition tours

Expect the unexpected when artists' books redefine the idea of the book in all shapes and sizes, using all manner of materials.

This stunning exhibition of sixty artists' books selected from the Australian Library of Art's extraordinary collection, showcases the artists' unique interpretations and creative expression.

Choose from one of the following free options.

  • Join us at 1:15pm every Sunday for a tour of Freestyle Books.
  • From Wed 17 to Sun 21 Sept, explore Freestyle Books with the curator of the exhibition, Helen Cole. 

Exhibition Tour

Join State Library of Queensland volunteers on a guided tour of Freestyle Books.

Meeting point: slq Gallery, level 2
Date: Sunday 1.15pm-1.45pm
Entry: Tickets Free, no bookings required

Free exhibition tours are also available for groups. Two weeks advance booking is required. Contact 3840 7768

Guided Tour

Explore the Freestyle Books exhibition on a free guided tour with the curator, Helen Cole.

Meeting point: slq Gallery, level 2
Date: Wed 17 – Sun 21 Sep, 12noon-12.30pm

The new State Library of QueenslandBuilding tours

Join State Library of Queensland volunteers on a guided tour and explore some of the extraordinary collections, resources and spaces in the new State Library building.

Meeting point: Knowledge Walk (outside Reception), level 1
Date: Every Thu and Sun at 11am, each tour takes approximately 60 minutes.
Entry: Free; limit of 15 places per tour.

Bookings are not essential, except for:

  • Groups (10+)
    Tours for groups of 10 or more are available by arrangement. Phone 3840 7768 at least two weeks in advance. 
  • Auslan interpreted tours
    Tours for groups of 5 or more can be arranged for hearing-impaired visitors. Phone 3840 7768 at least two weeks in advance.
