Love to Read!
In celebration of the National Year of Reading 2012, this latest set of photographs from State Library’s collections on Flickr Commons shows Queenslanders loving their reading. Wherever you may be, reading on a boat, on the veranda, or in the library, nothing beats getting lost in a book.
State Library of Queensland was one of the first Australian organisations to participate in Flickr Commons, a community on Flickr where cultural institutions have made photographs from their collections available. The key goals of The Commons on Flickr are to firstly show hidden treasures in the world's public photography archives, and secondly to show how community input and knowledge can help make these collections even richer.
We invite you to explore our collections on Flickr Commons and add your comments and tags to the photographs.

Back to school
The latest set of photographs from State Library’s collections on Flickr Commons shows Queenslanders at school. These photographs celebrate school days; the journey to boarding school for children from remote properties, the first day of school, and the formal portraits of sporting teams. School may have changed in the last 100 years, but these experiences, and the wearing of school uniforms have not!
